Ten Tips For Being More Patient In A Relationship

embed this tweet

For some of us, new relationships come with a sense of urgency. We’re eager to reach the next big milestone, especially as we get older. This same feeling of immediacy can cause us to push too hard or come on too strong, putting a strain on the fragile bonds formed in the early days. If you’ve ever been accused of being too intense, here are some tips to ensure that your next relationship isn’t smothered in its infancy.
  1. Step Away From the Cell Phone – In our constantly-connected society, it’s easy to flood a new partner with Facebook wall posts, texts and emails from a cell phone. While keeping a line of communication open is vital, it’s equally important to allow a new relationship some breathing room.
  2. Spend Time With Friends – Don’t be a cliché by ignoring your friends in favor of a new honey. If you have a long-standing tradition of poker with the boys or girl’s night margaritas, keep it. Your friends will be more likely to accept a mate that doesn’t take up all of your time, and these outings will give the two of you something to talk about the next time you get together.
  3. Focus On Your Hobbies and Favorite Pastimes – Losing yourself completely in a new relationship can easily be the kiss of death; your interests and pastimes are likely a big part of what attracted your new mate. Letting them fall to the wayside to spend every moment together leaves very little material for conversation and can cause your lover to feel stifled.
  4. Avoid “The Talk” – It’s natural to wonder where a new relationship is headed, but it’s a good idea to hold off on having “The Talk” for a while. Letting things develop naturally can be a bit nerve-wracking, but it’s necessary.
  5. Keep It Light – In the early days of a relationship, it’s best to avoid the heavy plans for your future and talk of marriage and children. Don’t introduce your long-term plans when a coupling is new, or it may not last very long.
  6. Be Careful With the Booze – There’s a reason why alcohol is also called “Truth Serum.” One phone call after a night of drinking can undo all of your cautious work when you’ve just started dating someone.
  7. Don’t Change Your Plans – Before you met your new love interest, you probably had some long-term goals and plans for your future. Avoid the temptation to change those plans to suit a brand-new relationship; despite how you feel in the honeymoon phase, there is always a chance that things won’t work out.
  8. Keep Your Priorities Straight – Though it’s difficult in the first blush, try to keep your priorities in line. Don’t let your new relationship take a toll on your work or other obligations, as it can very easily cause resentment when things inevitably begin to cool down and you’re forced to play catch-up.
  9. Don’t Play Mind Games – When things aren’t moving as quickly as you’d like, don’t resort to passive-aggressive mind games. Slyly referencing others that are interested in you or the ex that still has feelings will almost always blow up in your face.
  10. Hold Off On Introducing the Family – Even if you have the most welcoming and interesting family on the planet, your new love interest shouldn’t be meeting them for a while. Family members will ask questions that you may not be ready to answer, which will put undue pressure on you both.
No matter how desperately you want to find The One, it’s always best to go with the flow and let things develop naturally. If your new lover feels stifled, they’re more likely to lose interest altogether.

American Schools Must Stop Indoctrinating Kids!

embed this tweet

July 18, 2011

I endorse the push-back in this article by Paul Jacob. Our kids are being indoctrinated by liberal teachers, even down to the third grade and it's got to stop. Don White

Johnny Can Be IndoctrinatedGovernment schools in Frederick County, Maryland, deem the third grade the appropriate time to push a political agenda. Cindy Rose found this out when her daughter came down with the flu and read a textbook, Social Studies Alive! Our Community and Beyond, at home.Mrs. Rose calls the book "socialistic."Judge for yourself. On page 104, it reads: "Child care is important, but it is not free for most people in the United States.

Families have to pay for child care. It can be very expensive. In some countries, child care is a public service. For example, in Denmark and Vietnam, child care is free or costs very little. This makes it easier for parents to work. Do you think child care should be a public service in your community?"Rose took her complaint to the school board, which suggested that the book's slant might be balanced by other materials -- but could point to no evidence it was being balanced.

Those defending the textbook insist that it teaches critical thinking, but as one school board member asked, "Do you get much pushback from an 8 or 9-year old?"Only if the book explained marginal utility and the Thomas Theorem would I put much stock in the "critical thinking" excuse."The entire slant of the book," Cindy Rose argues, "is . . . the idea of government running your life."Thankfully, my wife homeschools our children. I can tell you that's not one of the lessons. This is Common Sense. I'm Paul Jacob.

How To Promote Your Blog

35 Ways to Market Your Blog

By JOE PULIZZI | Published: SEPTEMBER 27, 2010
Share
It never fails. Almost all the businesses we come in contact with continue to look for ways to promote their blog. Here is a handy list of common and some uncommon ways to market your blog.
  1. Promote it on your website. It's surprising the number of small and large companies that actually have a blog, but it's not promoted anywhere on the main site.  We like Top 42 blogger PR 20/20that not only has the blog on the navigation, but also lists the latest three blogs along the right side of the website.
  2. Include the blog URL in your email signature. All employees are part of your marketing team today. Every time they send an email, it's a marketing opportunity.
  3. Blog on Print. Put your blog address on your business cards, direct mail and print advertising.
  4. Fan Yourself. Many business owners forget to tell employees to fan their own sites on Facebook and Follow on Twitter.  Be sure employees know that you’d love if they shared relevant posts with their networks as well.
  5. Leverage Twitter Hashtags. When you promote your blog via Twitter, use relevant hashtags (i.e., #marketing) that prospects may follow (tryTwitag for more).
  6. Post your blogs on Facebook.
  7. Post to your LinkedIn status.
  8. Submit to directories. Here's a huge blog directory list from TopRank).
  9. Include in any press releases. By using services such as PR Newswire, Marketwire or PR Web, you can get your blog link placed in sites like Google, Yahoo! and sometimes hundreds of other sites (select the SEO option where they embed the links into the releases).
  10. Post regularly. The more you blog, the more opportunity you have to be found. Consistency is key.
  11. Guest post. Find blogs where your customers are hanging out and volunteer to blog. Be specific with the subject when you approach the blogger.  It shows you did your homework.  Also, bloggers are always looking to take a breather...as long as the information is relevant and valuable.
  12. Interview. Bloggers love to be interviewed. Doing a post about them is a sure way to get your post spread around.
  13. Submit your site to Google. Just in case your site isn't getting picked up.
  14. Put your blog on company invoices as well as other correspondence to customers.
  15. Showcase your employees on your blog (see Indium). Employees love to promote their own blogs (remember, they are your most important asset).
  16. Develop an opt-in eNewsletter out of your weekly blog posts.
  17. Talk about your blog when you speak at events.
  18. Listen to customer issues on Twitter and respond with links to blog posts that answer their problems.
  19. Be human. Stop talking like a company and start talking like a human.  Write in your own voice.
  20. Use the blog as your customer FAQ.
  21. Focus on information your customers really need. If you provide valuable, relevant and compelling information via your blog, chances of success are good.
  22. Use the right keywords. Leverage Google's keyword tool to find the terms that your customers are looking for.
  23. Post your blog on social bookmarking sites like Digg, Reddit andSphinn (Here's 233).
  24. Don't hide your RSS button. If prospects like your blog, they might want to subscribe via email or RSS.  Don't hide those buttons.
  25. Create a list of bloggers.  Then notify them that they made the list.  If the list is good, they'll promote it, and possibly comment.
  26. Use numbers in your title. Jay Baer found that his most popular posts almost always included a number in them (i.e. 9 steps, 4 types, etc.).
  27. Comment on other blogs. It's hard to be a blogger if you don't share.  Show your expertise on other blogs and leave valuable feedback.
  28. Link to your other posts within your current post.
  29. Go back to older posts and add new links to current posts.
  30. Don't over complicate your site. Make it easy for people to get around and share.
  31. Try a contest.
  32. Find relevant forums to add your input (like Google Groups). Add your blog link to your signature line.
  33. Have a point of view. If your posts are the same as everyone else's posts, who cares? Be different and get noticed.
  34. Define your niche. Focus on an area that you can be the leading expert in.  If your topic is too broad, you'll never be able to make a dent.
  35. Never ever stop. Your blog is a promise to customers. This post is my 500th post over the last 3 1/2 years and it has, without question, been one of the main reasons for our success.
What did we miss?

Love And Real Art

Sometimes life-like photographs are the best form of art, especially if they catch an important event or something unusual. However, artists bring to us their unique brand of communication via the right sides of their brains--true art, as shown in this blog. Love and real art are often expressive and sensual. But there are many more times when it is a quiet, inward feeling not communicated, or only subtly.

Welcome To Women Love And Men Admire Two

We hope in this blog site to give both sides of the story, the one libs want you to notice and maybe join with them in eradicating some problems they see - such as those introduced in the current article about toxins in the air that harm learning for newborns.

It's a real concern. The real question is how do we balance our needs with the dangers?

I guess if we could live on a paradise island somewhere where they had plenty of wildlife to hunt, land to farm primitively, and water - clear crystal water with pleasant water falls - and an absence of people, then everything would be great. But that's usually not possible or any of us. So back home in the good old USA we are beset with those on the right and those on theleft: to drill or not to drill, to go green or...use common sense; and to lie to the populace and do whatever the heck the government does to us and not have an open discussion, as is the current case.

Oh, oh...that's just my "wicked" conservative side coming out, isn't it? Read everything and be sure to make comments. We want your side of the story. And there are certainly two sides to the story about babies being poisoned while still in the womb. Don White

What Is Your Goal In Life?

If your goal in life is to get a great education, marry the best guy in the world and have a bunch of kids that your can teach to be Christ-like - go for it. But if you are paper thin - believing in only living a glamorous life, traveling to exotic places and spending every dime you and your husband earn - better set a more righteous goal.

Most people will never be rich in this life. Most women won't become glamor queens or own three houses. But if you try real hard, you can be a good person while living moderately, sometimes being very conservative, being a great example to your children and those around you, and learning more about the Savior of mankind and living his gospel principles.

May the latter be your lot in life. But that doesn't mean there won't be time for excitement and travel. If you choose to serve the Lord, these travel (missionary) opportunities will come to you. Then you will find that your greatest joy in life was helping your children succeed and then your grandchildren...together with serving others in some meaningful ways even after your home is empty and you and your husband are old and empty nesters. Serve the Lord by serving others.
